Members of Room 9 celebrated history on January 20, 2021 as they watched Joe Biden and Kamala Harris take their oaths for their new roles as President and Vice President of the United States.

Later in the week, the class learned that one of President Biden’s first executive orders addressed protecting the federal workforce by requiring mask-wearing.

This led to a discussion of the guidelines in wearing a mask for safety.  We reviewed the recommendations of the CDC to Help Slow the Spread of COVID-19:

  • People age 2 and older should wear masks in public settings and when around people who don’t live in their household.
  • When you wear a mask, you protect others as well as yourself. Masks work best when everyone wears one.
  • A mask is NOT a substitute for social distancing. Masks should still be worn in addition to staying at least 6 feet apart, especially when indoors around people who don’t live in your household.
  • Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol after touching or removing your mask.

Ready to show their support for this important practice, the class went into action and submitted their pictures showing support.  We hope that YOU remember to wear your mask – our lives depend on it.
