Rewarding Hard Work
ACC students at City Springs who earned CHAMPS status on their daily point sheet and who had good attendance were rewarded with a field trip to the pumpkin patch at Gaver Farm in Mount Airy, Maryland. CHAMPS is an acronym that teachers use to communicate behavioral and academic expectations with students throughout the day. Each student has a daily point sheet that they use to track their progress in meeting CHAMPS expectations each day.
The students in Ms. Bartholme’s class who had good attendance and earned “CHAMPS Status” (at least 90 points out of 100) for 4 out of 5 days were rewarded with a field trip to Gaver Farm on October 26. They earned the opportunity to enjoy a vast selection of fun activities, including hayrides, a carpet slide, and a jumping balloon. Our students particularly enjoyed picking their own pumpkin and feeding some friendly goats at the petting zoo!
At City Springs, we believe that positive reinforcement can help foster good school attendance and an environment where students are motivated to do well and succeed academically. Earned rewards give them a greater sense of achievement for their outstanding work. Ms. Bartholme’s students enjoyed this exciting adventure!
